When you choose to attend a particular B-School, you're not just selecting a college; you're joining a community for life. Don't underestimate the importance of the alumni network! It could be one of the most valuable assets you gain from your MBA/Masters experience.
In 2021, I had the option to choose among LSE, NUS, Imperial & ISB for my further studies. I was absolutely perplexed about what to do since I would be signing up for very different lives in all of the options.
I decided to take a month and speak to as many alums as possible through LinkedIn and personal referrals. I had candid conversations about what life would look like during and post B-School.
Since I saw myself working in India in the foreseeable future and considering the number of local alums accessible, I decided to join the Indian School of Business, and I have no regrets! I am a proud and active member of the community and also the youngest Elected Chapter Leader for the ISB Kolkata Alumni Association.
If you’re planning to join a B-School soon, especially one which is internationally located or in a new city, it will help to check the strength of the Alumni Community and connect with as many local alumni as possible. They can assist you in navigating the place without judgment.
